Are you baking a legendary sausage roll?
A well-made sausage roll is the stuff legends are made of. Let’s face it you just can’t beat a flaky, golden sausage roll.
Now NZ Bakels, organisers of the Bakels NZ Supreme Pie Awards, has turned its attention to sausage rolls with the launch of The Bakels Legendary Sausage Roll Competition.
The competition is open to all bakeries, lunch bars, cafes, caterers and restaurants that make and sell their own sausage rolls.
To get the competition rolling (pun intended) NZ Bakels is looking for a traditional New Zealand sausage roll with a maximum weight of 160g and maximum length of 120mm.
The filling must contain beef, pork or lamb and vegetables can be included. Bakers can use flaky or puff pastry, either manufactured on site or purchased in. Glazing and toppings, such as cheese or seeds, are permitted.
Imagine being named as the inaugural Gold winner of The Bakels Legendary Sausage Roll Competition and receive $1,500 in prize money along with a trophy to display on your counter and a framed certificate. Your win will be announced on national TV with huge media attention that will have customers lining up for one of your legendary sausage rolls.
